Only provide your SIN number where it is legally required, for example by your financial institutions or by your employer or by the tax services. You do not need to provide your SIN number for a job application or for applying for credit cards. 
  • A health card- health cards are in usage by the territorial or the provincial government. It allows access to health services in times of need. Each territory or province has its own health system. As it is a provincial matter so rules and regulations may vary. Since you got your permanent resident card you are eligible to avail the health services. There is a huge range of healthcare services which the provincial health ministry pays for its citizens. Services which are not legal are dentistry, eye exams, and cosmetic surgery.
